Fascinated by the magic of freezing a moment in time…

What started as childhood curiosity prompted by an Instamatic camera, quickly became Bill Hammond’s lifelong passion and love for photography.

Fascinated by the magic of freezing a moment in time, Bill learned photography is more than simply pressing a shutter. It is about light, patience, and storytelling. He spent countless hours in his own photography darkroom, watching images emerge that  ignite emotion, memory, interpretation, self-refection, desire and connection. These early experiences taught him discipline, craftsmanship, and an appreciation for the art behind every frame.

His journey traces the evolution of modern photography to its current digital age. From the compact simplicity of 110 film to the rich tones of Kodak Ektar 100, the gritty character of Tri-X, and the legendary color depth of Kodachrome 64, Bill mastered each medium with care. Those years sharpened his instinct and eye for composition and timing. Every roll of film demanded intention. Every exposure mattered.

As photography transitioned into the digital age, Bill embraced new technology without losing the foundational principles. While today’s tools offer speed and precision, he remains rooted in film: respect for light, patience in the process, and a deep understanding of how images tell stories.

Bill’s work reflects decades of evolution—both personal and technical. From darkroom chemicals to digital sensors, his journey is a testament to adaptability and artistry. It has led to an enduring passion for capturing life’s most meaningful occurrences that deserve the
